I've been captivated and absorbed by this engine stuff lately and have spent much time going through big BM lumps and the advantages of using certain units and then there is the LS series which seemed to blow all the others away. I love my 635 and can't help thinking that there is just too much 'space' around the 6 pot.
However, all this thinking has just given me one of those headaches you get just above your eye. Also thinking of how much it's going to cost makes me sweat a little, about 12k right? So the idea behind this thread is to bang all those heads together out there and build the car in a virtual sense. Just because my brain is making this funny white noise sound trying to work it all out.
If I was starting to save for this stuff then I need to know what I am doing. Of course, it all depends on how the future of my business pans out, but I don't want this to be a 'what if' more of a 'at least I tried', better still a 'look what I've got'! But I'm willing to carve up my 635 in the name of fun. I love the sound of the V8 and need it in my life. I think it's a perfect lump for an old 6 series. I'm not after eyeball melting speed or aiming to get around a corner brake lights first, so is an LS too powerful? Is there an easier more realistic conversion? and of course it has to be reliable. I'm after something that suits the car better. I've even looked at doing something with the existing lump, but I don't know if it'll satisfy my ears. I'm not keep on the sound of a turbo, I done all that with the RS's years ago. What are your thoughts?
