Hi gents, sorry for a delay in getting back to you but I'm going through a career change and it's been pretty hectic this end.

It 's great to find this thread as I am replacing the MASK in my E60 with CIC on the other side of the world. I follow your instructions and install the big CID already. About the main connector of the head unit, there are 2 blue plastic strips covering the part next to MOST connection. Should I remove any or all of the strips?

    Thanks

There is no need to remove any strips at all. The main connector is a straight fit from MASK to CIC.

I'm currently seeking on eBay for the parts needed in order to complete the retrofit, but I wanted to ask a few questions regarding the coding.

I'm familiar wit NCS Expert, but I think that might not be enough to carry out the whole procedure, so my question is what tools did you used (or FAL, if he is available and would like to answer), and what have to be done?

Is it only changing the FA of the car or there is more? My car is pre-LCI and from what I read I need to retrofit the LCI climate control also, which I would do.

    Thank you!
You only need to adjust the FA on the car, that's it.

If you manage to get into the CIC and change the Vin number (which I never did) then you can use your cars own VIN number for the discs. By using one of the emulators which fool the CIC into thinking it is in the donor car (which I did) then you must use the donor vin when ordering discs.

    Hope this helps

Hi PompeyPimp, just came across this guide. Will this work on a 2007 Pre-LCI BMW E60? Mine has the basic iDrive without Nav.

Hi PompeyPimp, have you got round to coding in the USB/AUX connector.. Does this also then mean you have enhanced bluetooth?

I have an '09 E61 and the previous owner had the CIC Bus edition idrive fitted in to.. he said it has online services which i assume must mean it has a combox installed, but because he didnt renew the services has deactivated and apparently need to take to BMW to get re-activated, but not sure if this means the enhanced bluetooth would also have been de-activated?

Photobucket have pulled the plug on all 3rd party hosting unless you purchase their top account at $400 per year
I've PM'd the original poster & asked if he could transfer the photos from this DIY into a public folder
