I have some experience with E30 and E36 petrol lumps, but my new diesel leaves me with a learning curve, so I thank in advance anyone who can help me get off of the starting blocks here....
Last week I booted my 04 plate 320 diesel, just a little, as it is fairly new to me, it was my first time with my foot to the floor. At around 4 1/2K as I was going through the gearbox something started to whistle slightly from somewhere underthe bonnet, so I eased off.
These past two days I have noticed that when the engine is cold it pulls okish, but when hot it is like I have lost all turbo boost, but I can hear the turbo spinning sweetly. Now the engine will now rev no higher than 4k in neutral.
I have been reading on this site a little about pre 2009 models having vacuum operated flaps within the inlet manifold, that cause engine distruction if they fail. Are these prone to getting sticky prior to complete failure? Am I barking up the wrong tree here?? Any suggestions gratefully received..Thanks.nish88.
