Hi all. My name is Bob, and I'm from Qld Australia. I currently own 2 E36's, one a white M40 saloon and
the other a silver 318is m44 coupe (only recently purchased). Would have liked a six but running costs here are
prohibitive, (fuel, rego parts etc). I'm on a disability so funds are limited. The saloon is the daily driver, the coupe was supposed
to replace it, however when the car turned up on the transporter they had managed to put a large scrape down
the passenger side, running from the indicator to the back window. There wasnt a panel on the car that didnt have
some mark, gouge, ding on it. Only the outside shell of the M spoiler, all the internal bits missing.
Once I charged the battery and turned the ignition on for the first time, I'm greeted with ABS, ASC-T
and airbag warning lights all lit up like a christmas tree. The aircon/heater control (the button type) not working
Glove box, gear knob missing, sterio not working, seal in sunroof split, slide panel jammed in sunroof, hood liner coming apart (most likely
caused by moisture from sunroof seal. Drivers seat damaged, and every one of the door trims in pieces. Both external mirrors broken,
held together with yellow tape. Front and rear shocks, tie rod ends, lollipop bushes, drop links, rtabs, both front tyres, all need replacing.
The motor itself sounds good, however does have oil leaks (tappet cover, filter housing, pan). Went to change spark plugs, they
were welded in. Managed to remove, however no.3 had damage to the thread. Radiator shot. Thats the list so far.
The car was advertised as a good runner, just needs tyres to be ready for rego. Yeah right.
Still, I really like the coupe, its just a pity I picked an unloved one. Well, better get back to it. Great forum, heaps of info.
