Hi all, great forum you have here!
I have had a couple of BMWs in the past; a very tidy E30 325 cabbie and an E46 320d, both a few years ago. Enjoyed them both but I'm a bit of a car whore and tend to swap and change my cars quite regularly. I have just taken possession of my new (to me)a 56 plate E92 335d in silver with 63k on the clock and full history which a friend of mine has had from almost new. It was an ex management car that he bought when it was only a couple of months old;
I have had my eye on it for a few years now so when he announced that he was going to swap it in for a new 435 Gran coupe, I jumped at the chance of buying it off him.
As luck would have it, a few days before he was due to do the deal, he had the three ABS/DSC lights come on and stay on....codes were read and it points to a faulty ABS/DSC unit. Eye wateringly expensive repair from BMW and drove his part x price right down so I got it at a good price.
I had already done my research, looks like a relatively inexpensive repair job from 'ECU testing' and not too difficult for me to swap out.
I have only done around 100 miles in the car so far but am massively in love with that creamy smooth power delivery and remarkable economy. Start stop heavy traffic driving from one side of Birmingham to the other, 30mpg. Mixed town and motorway trip, 42 mpg. Almost all motorway trip 47mpg and finally (and I know plenty of people will think I'm lying here but it's absolutely true!) reset the fuel computer at J6 on the M42, speed limit was 60 so grannied it at 50-60 all the way to J2 (about 14 miles) as an experiment in just how economical it could be driven.......61.4 mpg! You could have knocked me over with a feather....
Anyway, look forward to learning lots while I am her and no doubt I shall have plenty of questions for the experts!
