I'm hoping someone can help me. I bought my car last year, after 13 months I lost power, which was very scary but I was able to steer it into the side, the diagnosis is high pressure fuel pump failure which has resulted in swarf in the fuel. The garage I bought it from don't want to know, they are not BMW. I've been quoted £8,000.00 to repair. No one can tell me why this has happened BMW have offered a goodwill gesture but this still leaves almost £5,000. For repair. The car only has 40,000. Miles on the clock. Does anyone have any suggestions to what may have caused this, the only offer of a cause has been possibly bad fuel, however I my local garage is BP, I've never run out of petrol, or mis fuelled. Can anyone tell me how many miles you would expect to have done before a fuel pump disintegrates. By the way my warranty had run out 5 weeks before this happened. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Also when I bought it I had to have the garage clear out the window screen wash lines because no water would come out the lines were clogged with what looked like black algae.
