Thread: Hi Guys :)

well so far only been on forum for a little while and so far i've had a good reception from some of you with some problems i've been having.

thought i'd say hi to everyone and introduce you to my recent new motor

just turned 20, so insurance is still ruling my choice of car at the moment which is an absolute pain in the arse.

none the less picked this beauty up


its a 2000 318ci with the old 1.9 8v engine in it and thought it was a steal for £2k considering how nice the bodywork is. It had been sat on the forecourt for a long time though
so did need a bit of tlc but it drives like a prince now

so far
new tires
all serviced up
new brake calliper and front discs and pads
vacum hoses changed
crankcase breather valve and pipe changed
new maf sensor
belts e.t.c
new expansion tank

only thing left now is theres a very slight bit of play in the lower control arms once there changed it'll drive perfect

i'm supprised how well it goes contrary to what people on the forums say. but i suppose last car i owned being a 106 anythings gonna be an improvement :P.

fuel consumption good too getting 40mpg which i can't grumble at to say i've nearly gone up a litre in engine size

on the outside im planning on just keepin her nice and tidy. got some black grill's in there and was considering getting the wheel's done black/ grey cause they need referbing anyway :P
what do people reckon to that ?

haha i like the colour too, it really sticks out compared to the darker shades.

my misses said the same thing till i apeared with it outside her mums house anyway xD.

cheers man, and yeah i've not seen many coupes in this colour, i think it looks quite nice and makes the car look newer than it is.

It was quite a find as i wasn't originally looking for a bmw to begin with :P. I'd resided to the fact that i couldnt get insurance, till i found this one, then i didn't care :P.
And yeah i hope so, it was a lot cheaper than cars i was origionally looking at so to be fair even if it costs me a grand in bits to get it right, i'll still have money left in mi pocket :P.
just sprung a new leak today lol but, it's a 12 year old car and its a notorious problem so can't complain. might just replace the cooling all together.

thanks for the warm welcome guys and hope to be here for a fair while as i'm already eyeing up a 330 for when my insurance gets cheaper ;P. I can only imagine how much better this car is with a bigger block under the bonnet . might even consider engine swap in this one cause i love the way this one looks.

also what do people think about getting the wheels redone moodier like black / grey ? :P
