    Thanks Ben

Cant wait to change a couple of things but the nasty comes first

Always liked the old Jags as well Ben, not as good to drive as a BMW tho, steerings too light and its got too much body roll but its a well smooth comfy and quiet ride

Controls/ switches are much better placed with the BMWs, well the old ones i drive!, as well

    Hi folks,

Been having a bit of a think.

With what i want to do with the e32 theres no way im gonna get it all done while the summers here.

So gonna get a couple of small lightish jobs done on this old Jag and get it in for the Mot, its booked for the 24th

There was an advisory at the last Mot about a worn tyre so instead of getting 2 tyres for the front ive picked up a set of 17" XJR wheels and tyres

Mechanically ive got some autobox oil and diff oil to change, some plugs and i think thatll do for now

Thought id like to change some exterior stuff a bit, just seems too much chrome everywhere and just to make it my own kinda thing

Plan was to paint this outer grille the same sapphire blue as the car and fit this mesh

grille comes off no sweat with 4 torx screws

couldnt see a way of getting the mesh to fit neatly tho so change of plan allready

Just gonna leave the outer grille chrome and paint the grille slats satin black

Still had a decent bit of shadowline tape left so thought id get some of that on

did the back lights as well and a bit of the back window, didnt have as much tape as i thought. Theres just chrome everywhere on this motor!

ive got another roll now tho

When i was doing that i usually had a bit of tape extra maybe hanging off and on the actual paintwork till i trimmed it off

All was well and it always came back off no bother, till this happened

pretty gutted about that as the rest of the paintwork is good. Im not sure if the lacquer is on the tape or some of the tape is on top of the lacquer, im wary of touchin it so ill leave it for now

I should get the rest of the tape done tomorrow, itll come off again no bother if i want to change it back

The sagging headliner...been reading a good bit about it. Common problem with these it seems.

Some folk replace the whole thing, some reglue the fabric to the backing and some just leave it

Thought id try the reglueing method, new headliner is over !50. Its gonna be a time consuming pita job tho, removing all the trim and replacing broken clips and apparently it doesnt last long again anyway

So...mine is getting tacked up for now

I wont use the normal gold coloured ones like it has on the front, ive got some coloured ones so thats what its getting

If it turns out to be decently reliable ill maybe treat it to a new one sometime

So thats it for now and ill get stuff done over the weekend

    Thanks for looking guys

I havent gave up on the nasty, this will be easier and quicker work

hi watty I would cut that mesh with the grinder once you get a new one
screw it on to a piece of plywood to stop it deforming

hope that is just the sticky stuff of the tape on the paint

can you not use a sheet of thin hard board glued to the inside of the head lining to stop it sagging ?

Yeah i dont think ill have a problem getting it to the right shape, its just that when it fit it its gonna be at the back edge of the outer grille screwed onto the tabs on the front of the car and might not look right.

Gonna leave it for now and do the original grille inserts black, got to get this on the road 1st July, no ifs or buts!

Well ive done my super pro job on the roof lining, very natty

Used this wood and marked even spaces to keep the tacs kinda evenly spaced, here we go

thats all its getting, for now anyway

Im thinking the only way to do this is to replace the whole thing PAYNO properly, with the price tho im gonna save the ad near xmas and hope i get a bite from the mrs

Tomorrow ill see if i can get the new wheels on, maybe not all 4 but 2 anyway

    Thanks for looking guys
