    Lee_h - RC BMW E30 drift project

Right let me get this project started, bought a HPI sprint 2 flux and have decided to make it into a drifter so here goes

    This is how it came:

It came with a BMW M3 touring car shell

Here it is with my other drifter which will be now turned into a touring car as the new car is a better drifter with a lot more power

The car itself is a HPI sprint 2 flux

    Alloy oil filled shocks
Water proof servo and Esc with low voltage lipo cut off
    Dual Belt driven 4 wd
    5900kv brushless motor
    2.4ghz radio system
    Fully independent suspension
    Custom tuning features

I have bought a 2 cell lipo battery making the car capable of 50 mph + top speed with bags of torque.

    Next on the list:

E30 M 3 shell painted black with tinted windows.

Uprated ball cups to tighten up the steering

Drift wheels and tyres as I am currently using the old ones from my other car

    Titanium turnbuckles

Alloy dog bones (plastic ones break easily)

Woven graphite front shock tower (not 100% on this yet)

I will be getting some parts delivered this weekend so I will update, this weekend I should have the shell and upgraded ball cups, I will also be adjusting the toe and camber to make it more suitable for drifting

Test fitted my ansmann drift wheels with a 6mm offset onto the car to see how they would look in the arches, the new shell will be the same width so it will give me an idea of what offset I need the wheels

It seems 6mm is the offset I will need and once I adjust the camber they should line up spot on, now to decide on what wheels to get

Lowered the car so it's at a nice height and a stiffened it up a bit, could go lower for carpet drifting but then I would have to adjust it for Tarmac so I think the level it is at now should be fine for both

Update, e30 shell has arrived and been painted.

Here's how she sits on the car at the minute with the ansmann drift wheels

Put my order in for my wheels to be delivered next week, these are what I have ordered

    http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=3287

I think they will look good on the car with the black centres and chrome lip.

Also ordered these falken drift tyres:

    http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/piw.php?partNo=4425

Going to now adjust the camber so the wheels will fit nice and snug into the arches

Well this one cost 250 for the car and 30 for the shell, plus all the extra parts for the future but that is because I got a decent car capable of over 50mph on a straight, the first car I got was only 170 and that included everything.

The starter one I got is on the right of this pic

The one on the left is the one that now has the E30 shell
