Never understood why people put 6x9s in the original shelf. They always sounded like complete shit as well.

I would personally swop the alloys over for the standard steel wheels that should be on it. lighter as well. wind, cheap door clasp and the dreaded door crease ouch! take out all the seats bar 1. the drivers. (light weight) I got a set of gti brakes for my partners 1.4 s1 106 and it made very little difference! the problem is more to do with the servo I think. get a bigger 1 and the standard brakes will be better. your choice.

I'd like to think so. It's not like it owes me enough to be a burden. You wait, it'll be gone next time the boiler shits itself

Yes mate, the weight is the key - it doesn't have a lot of torque so every KG counts That can come down closer to 750kg by stripping the interior and removing sound deadening/tar etc.

I could never bring myself to cut an original shelf. I've made a few monster heavy MDF shelves before and covered them in black foam but the original shelf is just going to bounce when the drivers start moving

I want to keep it fairly true to the original so the interior is staying (but the dirt isn't ).

The brakes on all the 106's are shit. I actually pulled over in my wife's S2 Rallye to check that the brakes were still connected they'd faded so badly Apparently the 206 GTI callipers are a good upgrade but give longer pedal travel without the 206 MC. Can't see the point in just upgrading the servo and MC - they'd just cook in half the time.

Steels will go back on in the end.

That's exactly what they are Thanks

I think someone lied to you about the carpets Ten out of ten for effort though

Thanks for the kind words guys The Book Of Lies arrived today (5.55 bargain):

I'm still knocking on with the polishing

The cleanest window surround I've seen on a 106... these rot given half a chance

    Thanks for reading.
