1994 Peugeot 106 Rallye Of Dreams

No sooner had I bought the bus, this little bad boy is sitting in the garage:

    Bonnet popped in this one:

I haven't really had the opportunity to take any decent pics of it yet as I got it last Monday and haven't really had a chance to do a lot.

I know some (most!) will not appreciate a good old fashioned Pug, but trust me these things are great fun. Specs from the internet:

    1294cc 8v Capacity (cm³)
    100bhp @ 7200rpm Maximum Power
    80lbs/ft @ 5400rpm Maximum Torque
    121bhp per tonne Power/Weight Ratio
    825 Car Weight (kg)
    113 Top Speed (mph)
    3.5 0-30mph (secs)
    9.6 0-60mph (secs)

So on paper it's not that quick. Nippy at most. But what the stats don't tell you is that this is the most exciting 'out of the box' car I've driven. I like them so much this is my 3rd (2 x S1's and 1 x S2). The S1's are slower but more fun as they're less refined and have less grip (older chassis, thinner wheels). The 1.3 engine is also happier to rev than the 1.6 in the S2. The acceleration is only really noticeable at 5k revs + but Peugeot nailed the gear ratios just right so if you rev it to the read line and change up it's right back in the 'power' band (if you can call it that ). It takes some concentration to drive hard as if you let the revs drop it's just a 1.3 and bogs down horrendously. Seriously good fun though as you can adjust the cars line through a corner so easily with your right foot - so intuitive.

Anyway, this one is less than perfect. I paid a fair price for it and it runs well, pulls hard for a Rallye and has 12 months MOT. If I keep the right way up and add no more dents, it'll be worth what I paid or more almost guaranteed. It's also got a 4-2-1 manifold and assortment of poly bushes, plus no cat which I need to look into for the MOT next year. It's quite loud on full chat but nothing excessive

Been making a list. I need to sort:

[LIST][*]Missing a rear wheel nut - DONE 4/6/13 - 'freebie' from the guy I bough the car from [*]Rear bench fixings missing - DONE 4/6/13 - 'freebie' from the guy I bough the car from [*]Needs a carpet in the boot[*]The bonnet prop needs a retaining clip - DONE 14/6/13... £1.21 [*]Needs a radio or a blanking plate (not worried about a radio for the mo)[*]Needs a parcel shelf without 6x9 holes cut in it[*]All four wheels need re-balancing but I'll give them a spray up too[*]Drivers door needs replacing as the retaining pin is missing and it has swung open at some point and is hugely creased. Hopefully I can get one for

Looks a decent little Pug TBH - used to rally these and the 205's before them...

I reckon you could fix that door up - looks like most of it will pull/push out then tidy it up yourself - £50 for something else...

P.S It's probably easier to fit some 6x9's and cheaper than find another shelf.

Sweet. Didn't they come on steels as standard though? The alloys look like 405 Mi16 wheels. Looks nice though mate, much fun!

I've never done any bodywork like that before to be honest. Might have a read up. You could be right on the shelf... I need to have a look and see if there are any in scrap yards locally.

Yes they did and it's another thing for my list actually. The guy I bought it from has a mate with a set and he reckoned he might be up for a swap. Do you reckon they're MI alloys? They're tiny!

    Cheers guys

Those look more like 13. 15's look pretty big on a 106 if I remember rightly.

14's I think. 15's look way too big. The original steels are 13" I think.

Just had a look in the pictures and I reckon you're right on them being Mi16 wheels. I wonder what they fetch...
