Out the other day on a long journey, all is fine until a low noise becomes a very loud screatch, sounds like metal on metal.
Oil warning light comes on together with the battery light. Breakdown recovery called - expert thinks it's one of the idler pullers on
the serpentine belt. P38 home now - engine still starts okay but with no screatch - battery light out now but oil pressure light stays on
until you rev the engine - engine oil level is fine - my guess is the oil pump.
Before I start taking things apart to get to the oil pump, is there any checks I could make -
