Just a quickie, I've got the above in today. This truck keeps blowing exhaust manifold gaskets over a few hundred miles. They've replaced them numerous times and used some sealant stuff ( cast to cast ) . I've been tasked with getting it right. The old gasket shows a couple of blows direct out the bottom of it. The gaskets, and this is my issue, are metal on one side and some sort of papery foam the other. I would assume that the metal face would go direct onto the head as that's where the gasses come from, but then there are depressions in the gasket that suggest it goes the other way (metal side facing away from head) so that doesn't make sense to me at the moment. What you reckon?
